Welcome to EchoGrade. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our TOEFL speaking practice application.

2. Who This App Is For

EchoGrade is intended for users aged 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18.

3. Information We Collect

  • Email address and authentication details.
  • Speaking-practice information, including audio recordings, transcripts, estimated scores, AI feedback, summaries, strengths, areas for improvement, rewritten or better-version answers, and practice history.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide speaking analysis and feedback.
  • Store your progress and past attempts.
  • Improve the quality and reliability of EchoGrade.
  • Maintain system performance and security.
  • Communicate with you when necessary.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Voice Recordings

Voice recordings are used to analyze your speaking responses and generate AI feedback and estimated TOEFL speaking scores.

Your speaking audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription. The resulting transcript is sent to OpenAI to generate an estimated score and feedback for that attempt.

EchoGrade does not intentionally send your email address, payment information, or account credentials to OpenAI as part of this analysis.

Recordings may be stored securely and linked to your account so you can review past attempts and track improvement.

6. Payments

Payments are processed through secure third-party providers such as Stripe. EchoGrade does not collect or store credit card information.

7. Third-Party Services

EchoGrade uses these service providers to operate the product:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and file and audio storage.
  • OpenAI — transcription and AI-generated analysis.
  • Stripe — payment and subscription processing.
  • Google Workspace / SMTP — delivery of authentication emails.
  • Vercel — website and application hosting.

These providers may process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your data, including secure authentication, HTTPS encryption, and restricted access. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, including California, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including access or deletion requests.

Users may contact EchoGrade to request deletion of recordings, transcripts, scores, or account-related data.

10. Data Retention

Audio recordings stored by EchoGrade are automatically deleted after 30 days. Deleting the audio does not automatically delete the attempt. The attempt may continue to include the transcript, estimated score, feedback, summary, strengths, areas for improvement, rewritten or better-version answer, and other practice-history information.

This non-audio attempt information may remain until you delete the attempt or request deletion from EchoGrade. You can delete individual attempts from your History page. You may also contact EchoGrade to request deletion of account-related data.

12. AI Disclaimer

Feedback and scores generated by EchoGrade are AI-generated and provided for practice purposes only. They may not reflect official TOEFL scoring.
